What are the differences between a glycolic acid peel and a chemical peel?

The Glycolic Acid is the gentlest of peels requiring no recovery time. The Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) and Jessner’s Peels are true chemical peels usually requiring a week to ten days of recovery time.

What improvements can I expect from a chemical peel?

Fine lines are softened, smooth skin texture offers a youthful glow, leveling of acne scars, even skin tone, reduced sun-damage, all skin conditions will greatly improve with a Chemical Peel treatment.

What should I know before the peel?

Usually your technician will recommend a daily treatment regimen of skin preparation products two weeks prior to your first treatment. You should also stop using some products like Retin-A prior to a peel.

What to expect / how will I look immediately after treatment?

Your skin may be slightly pink and tight post peel. With the more aggressive peels, initially the skin may turn red and frosty white after the solution is applied, depending on which peel is used. It may continue to appear red and frost in some areas for up to 30 minutes. For the next couple of days the skin may look bright red, similar to a sunburn. The skin will start to darken with each day, before it actually peels off.

What kind of discomfort will I feel?

You may experience some mild discomfort and a gradual tightening that eventually leads to peeling of the skin. Peeling is expected and desired. A fan is used during the procedure to cool the skin.
